I would verify your third party software is up to date and compatible with the macOSÄ«ig Sur compatibility-Microsoft recently announced that it was officially ending support for Office 2016 for Mac on October 13, 2020. The thread has since gone stale and I was wondering if anyone had any resolution? There has been a similar thread with many user users complaining about this problem but after 8 pages of comments there still does not seem to be any indicatiopn of the cause nor any real attempt by Apple to solve this. The time it takes for this progress bar to disappear and the app to launch varies from about a minute to 15 mintues (when I usually give up and restart in Windows using Bootcamp). Pretty much every time I try to launch any of the Microsoft Office apps I get a message: Verifying "Microsoft.
